Please be rest assured Purple Carrot is singularly focused on the safety and integrity of our meal kits, now more than ever. We always handle all ingredients in alignment with the highest standards for health and safety. In particular:
- Employees are required to wear gloves and hair nets.
- Our distribution facilities have sanitizing stations located in key areas such as restrooms, break rooms, hand washing stations, and near time clocks.
- We have asked cleaning staff to do an even more thorough job of disinfecting frequently touched surfaces in the workplace, such as workstations, countertops, doorknobs, and light switch covers every day.
- In anticipation of potential supply chain disruptions, we are taking steps to provide appropriate substitutions wherever possible.
As the COVID-19 outbreak dominates our media cycle, you may find yourself asking "Will the Purple Carrot box be safe to touch?" According to the World Health Organization (WHO), it is. The WHO has confirmed that delivered packages are safe to handle, even if it comes from a place where the virus has been reported. Luckily, no known cases of COVID-19 have been reported at any of our three distribution centers to date.
As for the ingredients themselves, the United Fresh Produce Association has said, “There is no evidence that fresh produce (or any other food, or other product/material) can transmit the virus.” You can read more about that here.
